Crean Peter and DorothyCREAN, Peter Aidan Crean and Dorothy Pierce Crean   -  Died within hours of each other in Rochester, NY, December 23, 2023, both of natural causes.

 

They were both 81 years old. Born in Toronto, October 26, 1942 to Aidan and Patricia, Peter attended Blessed Sacrament (CYO Hockey), St. Michael's College School, and the University of Toronto (Math/Physics).

 

He earned a Ph.D. (Physics) from Princeton University, where he met his wife, Dorothy, at a dance.

Dorothy was born in Atlantic City, NJ, October 23, 1942 (3 days before Peter) to Tom and Martha Pierce.

 

Raised in nearby Pleasantville, Dorothy was valedictorian of Atlantic City High School and graduated from Upsala College in NJ (English/Education). Peter and Dotti were married July 27, 1968, in Pleasantville.

 

They raised two children, Tara and Jeff, in Penfield, NY. As Senior Research Fellow at Xerox, Pete served on teams that invented the inkjet printer and the color laser printers. They are survived by Tara (Nathan) of Manhattan, Jeff (Heather) of Texas; grandchildren, Lorelei and Isaiah (Manhattan); siblings, Frank, Rosemary and Martha (Toronto), Lee (NJ); and dear nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and the USA; and predeceased by Bette (NJ).

 

Their Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament, 24 Cheritan Ave. (one block south of Lawrence Ave. on Yonge St.), at 11 a.m, with a Celebration of Life and refreshments immediately thereafter onsite, and interment to follow .
