McCLEARY, David Crawford  - At Southampton Care Centre on April 19, 2018, two weeks before his 80th birthday.

David leaves to mourn him Mary Lee Gibbons, his loving partner of 12 years, brother Kenneth McCleary (Wendy), stepbrother Stan Freeman, niece Martha McCleary (Trevor Halton), nephew Gerry McCleary and grandniece and grandnephew, Hannah and Harry Halton.

Predeceased by his mother Ruby (nee Berry) and father Kenneth McCleary, stepfather Alfred Freeman, stepbrother Gary Freeman and stepsisters June Brill and Betty Bohn.

An accomplished journalist, Dave started a broadcasting career at 24.

He worked at radio stations in Guelph, Sudbury, Welland, London, Kitchener, Owen Sound and Toronto, punctuated by a 5-year term at the Cambridge Reporter.

After retirement from the media, Dave made daily trips from Port Elgin to Pearson Airport for Grey Bruce Airbus.

A huge fan of Saugeen Shores on Lake Huron, Dave spent his later years happily in the area. His remains will be interred in Southampton Cemetery.

Sincere thanks to the wonderful people at Southampton Care Centre for the care, respect and love they gave Dave during the difficult years of his illness.

Donations in his memory to the SCC Residents' Council would be appreciated. A memorial celebration will take place at a later date.

We miss you terribly dear David but are so glad that you touched our lives.
