DITTA, Doreen Ruth (nee DUNHAM)  - Last in her line of the Dunham family, Doreen Ditta died on her terms in Toronto on July 16, 2018.

Born in Toronto's Junction in 1926, she was the daughter of Kate Hendry and Frank Dunham.

The baby of the family, she was predeceased by siblings Mary Jenkins, Jean Dunham, Jack Dunham, Eleanor Whyton, and Margaret Dunham.

Following her marriage to Frank Ditta (died 1988), she moved to Sarnia where she and Frank raised four daughters: Susan Lightstone (John Keen), Mary Lou Ditta (Terry Mah), Stephanie Ditta, and Joan Frawley (Brian Frawley).

She is survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Adrian and Nicola Lightstone, Jocelyn Mah, Catherine and Eleanor Frawley, Frank Samuel Ditta, and Adeline Lightstone.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date.

Many thanks to the staff at Christie Gardens for their kind, gentle care. Doreen grew up a poor girl and, throughout her life, she and her children were given many opportunities by a benevolent country.

She requested no donations and no flowers. Rather, in keeping with her wishes, please take positive steps to ensure we continue to live in a generous, inclusive Canada that encourages all to thrive.
