MURASUGI, Yasue (nee KUWAHARA) - Yasue Murasugi passed away peacefully in her Ottawa home, at the age of 92.
Devoted wife of Kunio Murasugi, her husband of 67 years.
Beloved mother of Chieko (Stephen), Kumiko (Ingo), and Sachiho (Jeffrey).
Proud grandmother of Emika and Theodore Lisberger, Kunio and Maya Hessel, and Miyuki and Teiji Schoyen.
Yasue was born and raised in Asakusa, Tokyo.
She graduated from Ochanomizu Women's University with a degree in Chemistry and taught at St. Margaret Elementary School until her marriage in 1955 to Kunio Murasugi, a mathematician.
After immigrating to Canada in 1961, she lived an active and creative life, painting with her art group in the University (of Toronto) Arts Women's Club, volunteering at her church, and composing Japanese tanka poems.
She and Kunio loved gardening and taking walks at their cottage, and travelling abroad.
Yasue will be lovingly remembered for her strength, artistic spirit, and generous heart.
Her family is grateful to the Nephrology teams at the Ottawa Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
A private memorial gathering for family will be held at a later date.
