Shanahan HeatherSHANAHAN, Heather Helen (nee Chipman) - Born in Toronto on March 14th, 1932, and passed away peacefully on December 13th, 2018.

Daughter of LT Colonel John H. Chipman and Helen Chipman. She was predeceased by her best friend and beloved husband of 53 years, Paddy.

She was also predeceased by her sister Joan, her brother Jack (Barbara) and is survived by her brother Tom (Bobbi).

Heather was a devoted, loving mother and is survived by her five children; Mike (Cathi), Chris (Daryl), Mary (Mike), Kathy (Rusty) and Ann (Scruffy & Snickers).

She was the proud Gramma of nine grandchildren; Connor, Jessica, Maggie, Jamie, Kelsey, Emmie, Kyle, Jenna and Colter.

Heather was a graduate of Havergal College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Toronto in 1954. Among other things she was a great athlete who had a passion for the game of golf and was a 7-time winner of the Ladies Club Championship at the Briar’s Golf Club. She was also a member of the Princess Anne Chapter of the I.O.D.E. as well as the W.I.G.S. and the S.W.I.G.S. She had a great love of games and in particular the game of bridge.

But above and beyond all else she was fiercely devoted to her family - Paddy, her children and grandchildren. There was rarely a concert, speech, sporting event or academic achievement ceremony that she was not in attendance for. Mum's steadfast support, kindness and integrity are thes gift she gave us all and the legacy she leaves behind. We will all miss her dearly and hold her in our hearts forever.

Special thanks go to the amazing staff at Hollandview Trail, the caring staff at Nurse Next Door, Newmarket, the SRT Palliative team at Southlake Regional Health Centre and the incredible Margaret Bahen Hospice.

We welcome all friends to help us celebrate our mum Heather at Beacon Hall Golf Club, 400 Beacon Hall Drive, Aurora on Friday December 21st from 12 - 4pm. Tributes will begin at 2pm.

In Heather’s memory, donations may be made to the Stronach Cancer Centre or the Alzheimer Society of York Region. Arrangements entrusted with Thompson funeral home, Aurora.
