Rodrigues FernandoRODRIGUES, Fernando - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando, 90, on January 31, 2021.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Maria Esmeralda (nee Fernandes), in July, 2007.

He is survived by, and will be deeply missed by, his children, Carlos (Lucia), Eduardo, and Isabel (Michael), and cherished grand children, Laura, Daniel, and Matthew.

He was a kind and gentle man, loving husband and father, and will be sorely missed by his family and friends in Canada, as well as his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Portugal.

Fernando enjoyed spending time with his family, at family get-togethers and parties or while travelling with family. He loved telling jokes, anything that would spawn a smile. He also held a great work ethic, always working hard, he enjoyed seeing the fruits of his labour.

He immigrated to Toronto, Canada from Cascais, Portugal, already a highly skilled Upholsterer, with his family in 1965. In Canada, he created many beautiful, masterful pieces of furniture, both while he operated his business, Artsman Upholstery, and on his own time. Many of us will continue to cherish the beautiful work Fernando created with his hands.

In his youth, he was also known for his love of photography and film-making. We have many home movies we can continue to enjoy for years to come.

Special thanks to the many nurses, doctors, and health care workers involved with his care during the past few years, especially at the Avalon Retirement Home and Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada.

Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral service and interment in Caledon will be private.

Funeral and Webcasting arrangements for February 6th at 1:30 p.m. are entrusted with Ward funeral homes.
