Pace ClarencePACE, Clarence William Munro   -   February 19, 1939 - October 30, 2021

Clarence died from complications due to lymphoma, on October 30, 2021, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto.

Devoted to his wife Mary (deceased August 31, 2021), Clare dedicated himself to caring for Mary during her final years of ill health, the culmination of sixty-one years of marriage. He was born in Nova Scotia and never forgot his Maritime roots or love of the sea.

He was a loving father to Munro, Andrew, Merala (spouse of Fiona), and Philip (husband of Chad), and grandfather of three grandchildren, Tyler, Quinn (partner of Julia), and Pace.

Music constituted a significant aspect of Clare's life both as a participant and a devotee.

Singing in the choir at Grace Church on the Hill and then later at The Cathedral Church of St. James in Toronto gave him much pleasure.

Clare was a professional singer who also sang in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Elmer Isler singers and Festival Singers. Both Clare and Mary were lovers of the performing arts: classical instrumental and choral music, opera, theatre and dance. They were strong supporters of the Stratford Festival and for many years enjoyed time spent in Stratford at their second home.

Clare started his career as an English teacher at Northern Secondary and Malvern Collegiate. The majority of Clare's professional life was spent as a valued counsellor at UTS (University of Toronto Schools) where he was admired and trusted by students and colleagues.

Following his retirement, Clare and Mary enjoyed many international travels and spent more than three decades wintering in Barbados.

Clare was known for his love of fashion, flowers, dachshunds and gin martinis.

A funeral service will be held at Christ Church Deer Park, 1570 Yonge Street, Toronto, on Saturday, November 20th at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
