Algie MargotALGIE (LILLY), Margot Rose  -   Margot died on her 65th birthday, on December 19, 2023, according to her plan.

Margot worked in Corporate Communications.

She developed and delivered integrated marketing events to motivate her clients' audiences around the world.

Her creativity and great sense of detail led to her commercial success, but her hallmark was her people skills, which resulted in long and enduring friendships with those she met along the way.

Margot was a loving caregiver to her beloved English Setters, Spencer, Catherine, Elizabeth and Charlotte; as well as to her Newfoundland, Max; and her cats, Chester and Cedric.

She had a passion for driving. A race car enthusiast, she was thrilled to have completed a racing course at the Jim Russell Racing Academy in Mont Tremblant and was known to demonstrate some of her skills on the rolling hills of Grey County.

Grey County was Margot's happy place. She bought a dilapidated farm (much to our chagrin) and lovingly transformed it into a beautiful home.

When Margot was diagnosed with ALS, her colleagues at Integrated Communications & Entertainment organized their own fundraiser for Margot.

The goal was to raise enough money for her to experience her personal bucket list items before the effects of the disease progressed.

She was grateful for their overwhelming love and support, and treasured all the adventures she experienced because of their generosity.

Not the least but indeed the last of her gala events was her planned "Hasta La Vista, Baby," party, where she was able to celebrate her life with friends and family. Needless to say, it was SRO.

The ravages of ALS could diminish neither her wicked sense of humour nor her kindness. Always thoughtful, she arranged to donate her kidneys upon her death. Margot served on the Community Services Advisory Council, ALS Canada, and the Client and Caregiver Advisory Council with VHA Home Healthcare.

Margot was immensely grateful for her wonderful friends, Fifi, Lita, Pugs (Judy), Kitty and Hildie (Jan McGee).

Margot will be greatly missed by her partner, Roger Algie; siblings, Sheila Ferne, Benson Lilly (Liz), Suzanne Lilly and Jennifer Best; nieces and nephews, Sandra Ferne (David), Tracy Ferne (Danny), Andrew Ferne (Cheryl), Kristen Lilly, Cameron Lilly (Danielle), Courtney Lilly, Rob Lilly (Bea), John Lilly (Karen), Morgan Best and Taylor Best (Lyz); and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Nico, Lani, Charlotte, Alyssa, Kai, Benjamin, Thomas, Cody and Mackenzie.

Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law, Virginia Gould (Ron); nieces, Joanne Grant (David) and Diane Steinmetz, their five children; and eleven great-great-nieces and nephews.

Margot decided to end her life with the assistance of MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying).

In accordance with Margot's wishes, next spring she will have her ashes scattered with those of her beloved dog, Max, in a special place they both loved. Margot's beautiful spirit will live on in our cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Margot's memory to the ALS Society of Canada at: secure.alsevents.ca/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?RegistrationID=5244441#&panel1-3.
