Hardcastle KathleenHARDCASTLE, Kathleen Marguerite (nee SMITH)  - of Toronto Born on September 18, 1927 in Charlton, Ontario peacefully passed away at age 90 on June 6, 2018 in Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Loving wife to the late Tom Hardcastle.

She was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Gord and Mildred Smith, survived by sister-in-law Shirley Smith.

Kathleen is survived by her nieces and nephew: Don Smith, Lyn Maguire (Brian), Barbara Garlinski (Glenn), Deborah Smith (Patti Gerrish) and Donna Beer (Doug).

She is also survived by her 5 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews: Tracy Adams, Sheri Garlinski, Geoff Smith, Kelly MacDonald (Kevin), Erin Madonia (Dylan), Shawn Beer (Michelle) and Stephanie Beer. She is also survived by her 12 great-great-nieces and nephews: Taylor Garlinski, Kailee Adams, Cassidy Adams, Austin Pavao, Ethan Madonia, Lily Rossi-Smith, Connor MacDonald, Devon Madonia, Brooklynn Beer, Ryan MacDonald, Dominic Rossi-Smith and Annie Beer. Kay was known for her kindness and generosity to all family and friends.

She provided years of loving care to her husband, Tom. Their many years, at their cottage on Muldrew Lake, were spent enjoying the water and wildlife with family and friends. She was given a Caregiver award for her exemplary care and was recognized for her volunteer work at Stonegate Community Centre in Etobicoke. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Special thanks to the staff at the Village of Tansley Woods Retirement Home in Burlington, who provided incredible care to Kay over the last 5 years when she became significantly disabled. Her life there was filled with friendly faces and kind, loving staff and lots of laughter. Thanks also to the staff in the palliative care unit at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at Royal York United Church at 851 Royal York Rd., Etobicoke.

For those who wish memorial donations may be made to Royal York United Church, Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Arthritis Society.
