Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at his residence in Keswick on March 18, 2026. Fred will be dearly missed by his loving wife and partner of 66 years Evelyn (nee Cryderman) and their three children Terry (Donna) of Fergus, Karen (Mark) Marietta of Wasaga Beach, and Michael (Linda) of Sutton West. Loving Poppy to his eight grandchildren Matthew, Mark, Alison, Tyler, Joseph, Halie, Laura and Anna, and to his 12 greatgrandchildren Jacob, Kaitlyn, Blake, Bria, Halle, Ella, Bowen, William, Taya, Hayes, Summer and Evelyn.

Fred Thompson was predeceased by his parents Freeman and Alice (nee Foster) Thompson, and by his three siblings Ruth (Carl Melbourne), Shirley (Harold Coates) , and Vern Thompson “Bud” (surviving wife Jean).

Fred was a proud farmer throughout his life. While he farmed, he also worked for the Township of North Gwillimbury/ Town of Georgina for 35 years as a grader operator and then the Roads Foreman. In 1989, Fred retired from the town to devote himself to full time farming at their farm on the Queensway North in Keswick.

Fred always enjoyed connecting with others and had a gift for striking up conversation wherever he went. No one was a stranger. Fred was a blessing to many.

The family are forever thankful to the wonderful staff at Cedarvale Lodge who lovingly cared for Dad. The family also expresses our gratitude to those who visited Dad in later years, especially his nephew Steve.

A private family internment will take place at Mount Albert Cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place on Saturday, May 9th at Keswick Christian Church, 2 Old Homestead Road, Keswick from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

In memory of Fred, donations to the Southlake Health Foundation would be appreciated.
