Peacefully at Headwaters Health Care Centre on Monday, August 18th, 2025 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Patricia Kurtz. Survived by his sister Ruth Gerth (Bob) and his brothers Ken (late-Lillian), Allan (late-Mildred), Bruce (Jean), and Lorne (Gerry). Predeceased by his sisters Doreen Nixon (late-Russell), Kathleen Gage (late-Clarence), Eleanor Carmichael (late-Ian), June McLean (late-Rod), Shirley Chittenden (Jim), and his brother Len (Vi).
Remembered by his sister-in-law Kathy Kennedy (Doug). Jim was known by his Oswego, New York race fan friends, lovingly as “NEWFIE.” Jim will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, family and many friends.
Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Words of remembrance will begin at 2:30 pm. Memorial donations to your local OSPCA would be appreciated by the family.
A tree will be planted in memory of Jim in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
