BLACK, Peter William Black
May 24, 1939 - March 22, 2026Passed away at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed by his wife Donna (OβNeil), and his children Roger (Elizabeth), Laura (Gene Gillis), Nicole (Matthew Morel) and Jim Ingram (Heather). He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Connor, Megan, Mitchell, Hannah, Kayla, Ryan, Elsie, Georgia, Alora, Kelsi, Keahna, Natasha, and 5 great grandchildren. He was a brother to Mary Walker (Neil), Susan Lavigne (David) and Robert (Bonnie), and will be missed by in-laws Joyce, Louise, Virginia, Clark, and Phyllis, and remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.
Peter William Black is predeceased by his parents William and Marie (Ryan) Black and by his first wife Janis Spencer (1983).
He was born in Windsor, Ontario and during his childhood moved to Walkerton, Goderich and London. He was an avid sportsman, running cross country, playing hockey, basketball and baseball. He worked as a meat manager for Loblaws until his retirement in 1999, and then pursued more relaxing pastimes such as camping, travelling, music jamborees, card games, and family gatherings. During these times he could be found enjoying a drink with family and friends. He also enjoyed curling, and acted as the property manager for the Woodstock Choralaires, which took him and Donna overseas on numerous trips. They also enjoyed pulling their fifth wheel trailer and motor home, exploring the east and west coasts of Canada and Northern Ontario.
In his later years, he overcame many health obstacles with a tenacious spirit. He will be remembered by friends and family for his kindness, warmth, humour, and patience.
Family and friends will be received at the McBeath-Dynes Chapel of the Glendinning Funeral Home, 246 Thames Street South, Ingersoll, Ontario on Saturday, March 28th from 2-4 p.m., with words of remembrance and committal at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be live streamed.
