OWEN, John Owen

Passed away peacefully at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of his family. Beloved husband of 65 years to his devoted wife, Maureen, John was a proud and loving father to Stuart (Laura), Caroline (Damon), and Elizabeth (Michael). He was a cherished grandfather to David (Christina), Michael (Brittany), Emily (Justin), and Megan, and a proud great-grandfather to Olivia, Adaline, Wesley, and Audrey.

Born in Llanelli, South Wales, John made the life-changing move to Canada in 1964, where he built a life centered on family, community, and connection. He was deeply involved with the Masons and proudly served as Grand Master of the Burlington Lodge in 1980.

A devoted Christian, John attended church regularly, served on the session, and sang in the choir, finding great strength and joy in his faith and church community. John had a wide range of interests, including fishing, camping, sailing, golfing, travelling and painting. However, nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his family, especially when gathered together sharing a meal.

John Owen will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the strong and loving family he helped build.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford for their kindness, care, and compassion shown to John over the past few months.

Family and friends will be received at the McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantrford on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service in the chapel on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.  Interment at Farringdon Burial Ground.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre, Brantford would be greatly appreciated.
