MATHIESON, Dorothy Myrtle Mathieson

She passed peacefully at home in her sleep on May 7, 2026 at the age of 97. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Kerry (Margaret) and Jody (Emma); grandchildren Jamie (Nicola), Shaun (Holly), Curt (Christina), Kellie, Marisha (Jake), and her great-grandchildren Rory, Charlotte, Khyden, and Lillie. Dot had a special place in her heart for her dear neighbours and extended family including Michelle, Mark, Isaiah and Noah. Dorothy Myrtle Mathieson was always caring for someone – from family members and friends to cats, dogs, birds and even squirrels. Dot’s kindness and compassion touched everyone around her. She dedicated her time volunteering with the Kidney Foundation, Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Salvation Army. Dot gave freely of her time and love, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to gather at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME (386 Mill St. S., Newcastle) for visitation on Wednesday May 13, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:30 A.M. Service will take place at 11:30 in the chapel at the funeral home, followed by reception. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens. If so desired memorial donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation
