He beloved husband, father, grandfather, farmer, businessman and friend, passed away 0on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at the age of 73. Born June 17, 1953, John lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, determination and an enduring love of family, farming and the land.

John Isaac Beattie was the devoted husband of Karen for 48 years and proud father of Emily Nieuwland (Scott) and Andrew Beattie (Lara). Cherished grandfather of Iris, Tye and Petra Nieuwland, and Lauren and Isaac Beattie. Loving brother of Jeannie Beattie (Greg Gillis), the late Mary Anne Beattie (Kennar Ames), Louise Watt (late Bob Watt), and Fern Beattie. Predeceased by his parents Ross and Marjorie Beattie.

John graduated from the University of Guelph in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

John lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, determination and an enduring love of family, farming and the land. Farming was never simply a career to him β€” it was his passion, identity and way of life. He was a dedicated farmer and business owner, serving as partner in Beattie Brothers Farms Limited and former owner and partner in Collwest Grain Ltd., Collwest Grain Products and Stayner Feed Service Ltd.

John loved the land, cattle and the challenge of farming. He possessed boundless energy and an unwavering work ethic, often staying up through the night to cultivate, plant or harvest. To John, there was no clock when a job needed to be done.

Known for his charisma, wit and great sense of humour, John loved making a deal, whether trading tractors or horses. A loyal and trusted friend, he was an independent thinker who was never afraid to step outside the box and try something new. He approached life with confidence, determination and optimism.

An avid reader with a curious mind, John loved discussing sports, politics, farming and current events. He was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, enjoyed playing hockey and baseball in Stayner, and loved the challenge of golf. He also had a great sense of adventure, travelling widely to golf and ski, and remained an avid skier throughout his life. His favourite music included The Rolling Stones, Blues and Country music.

John was a man of strong moral character and integrity who faced illness with courage and remained determined and strong until the end.

A private family service will be held.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
