BIRD, Norm Bird

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Alfred Bird, who died peacefully at Stratford Rotary Hospice on May 12,2026 at the age of 88.

Born on July 8,1937 in Guelph Ontario, Norm was the beloved son of the late Annabel and Milton Bird. He was the devoted husband of 49 years to the late Margaret (nee Blair) and the devoted husband of 14 years to Helen Mussell.

He was the cherished father of Heather Coombs (Mark), David (Erin) and stepfather to Al Mussell (Alison). He was the proud Papa to Spencer Coombs and Grandpa to Emma and Carson Mussell.

Norm Bird was predeceased by his brother Gordon (Betty). He will be lovingly remembered by many extended family members, friends, former colleagues and all who knew him.

Norm worked as the Agricultural Engineer for Perth County for 25 years. He served his community being an active member of the Stratford Rotary club, especially enjoying his involvement in the Student Exchange program.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Stratford Rotary Hospice and Dr. Lam at Verspeeten Cancer Centre London for exceptional care, compassion and support.

Family and friends are invited to Avondale United Church, 194 Avondale Avenue, Stratford on Thursday, May 28, 2026, with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Norm’s memorial service at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in Immanuel Hall.
