CRAWFORD, John “Jack” Crawford

Passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Humber Bay, Toronto to Eileen and James (Joe) Joseph Crawford, Jack grew up with his brothers James (Jim), Shirley (Bender), and Dorothy (Mickey Maiche). Jack and his wife Marie (née Prevost) married young and raised their three boys (Bob, Ron and Paul) in Rexdale. Jack took great pride in his career as a professional firefighter and retired from Etobicoke Fire Department as a District Chief. In 1969, Jack and Marie acquired a wooded lot on Parry Island on the shores of Georgian Bay and built a beautiful cottage that became their homebase. They enjoyed many years of fishing and visiting with family and friends in Jack’s little piece of paradise.

Jack leaves Marie, his wife of 73 years, his sons, daughters-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren who remember him with much love.

The family would like to thank the staff at Copper Terrace, Chatham for their kindness and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jack’s life on Friday June 26, 2026 with visiting from 11 to 1 pm.  A memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 pm with Rev. Paul McPhail officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jack’s memory to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation.
