JOURNEAUX, David Journeaux

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of David Journeaux, who left us peacefully on July 24th, 2026, surrounded by his family.

David was born in Port Daniel, to Lorne Journeaux and Sarah (McPherson). He spent his teenage years in Murdochville, PQ, where he met his wife Joan. When she moved to Toronto for work, David quickly followed.

David shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan. Together they built a life in Hamilton, raising three children, Susan (Paul) Hannaberry, Lori (Jim) Borsodi, and Mike (Jaimie) Journeaux. He was a loving father who shared his wisdom generously, provided constant support, and loved unconditionally. His children will forever be grateful for the example he set and the values he passed on.

Devoted Grandpa to Matthew, Victoria, Brody, Stephanie and Kelsea Rae and Grandpa David to his great grandchildren. He was an exceptional grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially cheering them on at hockey games, dance recitals, and every special milestone. David’s kindness and generosity reached far beyond his immediate family – he will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

David dedicated 30 years of service to Dofasco working in the Blast Furnace, before enjoying a well-earned retirement. After a few years of puttering around and keeping busy at home, David decided retirement wasn’t for him, so he returned to work as a truck driver for 20 years.

Retirement suited him well, and he could often be found playing cards with friends. No euchre game was ever too far, and he rarely turned down the chance to play. He will forever be remembered as the “not a problem” and “don’t worry about it” guy. He had a kind heart, a steady presence, and an unwavering willingness to lend a hand, always putting others before himself. His generosity touched everyone who knew him. Whether he was fixing something, cooking or baking, offering a ride, or simply showing up when someone needed him, he found his greatest joy in helping others.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, in Stoney Creek on Wednesday, July 29, 4-7 p.m, and Thursday, July 30, 10-11 a.m. with service to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
