WHALEN, Robert Henry Whalen

Peacefully, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Robert Henry Whalen passed away at the age of 94. Formerly a Sarnia resident, Robert enjoyed the community and friendships built at Brookside Retirement for the last 8 months. Beloved husband of the late Thora. Much loved father of Cindy (Ross) Leitch and Nicolas (Marie Madeleine) Whalen, and the late James Robert Whalen. Cherished grandfather of Kelby McNally, Kane Leitch, and Madeleine Whalen. Great Grandfather of Klayde McNally. Dear Brother of Ray (Hilda), Diane (Gordon), and Joan (the late Jim). Predeceased by his wife Thora, his parents Joseph and Mary Anne Whalen, and Siblings Howard (Margaret), Dorothy (Joe) Quelette, John (June), Kay (Alex) Morin, Mrs. Oneta Harman (Marsh), Mrs. Edith Duff (Ed), James Whalen, Monica Cole, and Mary Whalen. Robert had a successful career in the plants as an Engineer. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement for over 30 years while having many other small jobs, which notably included working parttime at Moore Landfill. He was well known in the neighbourhood as Mr. Fix-it of the weed wipers, lawn mowers, and small motors. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Northern Ontario. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
