It is with great sadness that we announce that Meita Deborah Winkler passed away suddenly on Friday, August 8, 2025, at age 63. Beloved daughter of Naomi and the late Arthur Winkler, sister to Joel, and the late Gil.
She wore many hats in her lifetime and was always ready to explore something new. A graduate of fine arts from Emily Carr University, Meita will be remembered by family and friends as a free spirit. She crossed the continent at a young age to settle in Vancouver, British Columbia. From her work in the film industry as an actress, assistant director, and graphic designer, to singing jazz, writing, and creating works of art, Meita explored the world without fear.
In recent years, Meita was a companion and huge support to both Arthur and “Nomi.” Despite her struggle with Crohn’s disease, Meita pushed forward in her life, even teaching herself to tap dance. She will remain forever in our hearts as an inspiration to rise above the difficult times in life.
