Beloved mother and nana sadly passed away at the Peterborough Hospice May 7 2025. Born in Slovenia, her family spent 4 years in a displacement camp until immigrating to Canada in 1949.
Marie worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Toronto where she met her husband Joseph. They were married 71 years until his death in 2023. They lived and raised 5 children in the same High Park area home for over 70 years.
Predeceased by her daughter Dorothy, sons Mark and Julius.
She is sadly missed by her daughters Joan (Scott), Louise (Pete). Her grandchildren Kaitlin, Nicole, Lucas, Sean and Elise (Frank) and her great grandchildren Owen, Frank, Roy, Stella and Joseph.
Also lovingly remembered by Anthony and Diane.

Service will be held at Thornton Funeral Home Saturday July 12th, 2025 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peterborough Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Society.
