EWING, Alexander MacLaren – Peacefully with family by his side at Sunnyside Home, Kitchener late Thursday, June 26, 2025. Alex Ewing of Wiarton in his 98th year.
Beloved husband of Bea Ewing (nee Weir), with whom he recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Cherished father of Cheryl Ewing of Kitchener, Sandy Ewing of Alberta, and Susan Ewing of Wiarton. Much loved grandfather of Lisa (Shawn) and Jessica, and great-grandfather of Jackson, Owen, and Brynn.
Missed by sister-in-law Sheila Ewing of Wiarton as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Janet (Dargavel) and John Ewing, brothers Stuart (Ruth) and James, sister Jean Isbester, and son-in-law Alex Kordics.
Alex was a proud employee of CN Rail, primarily working in Northern Ontario through to retirement. He and Bea became avid curlers, a passion they shared throughout their lifetime. A patient, gentle, and social man, Alex’s work ethic was respected by many, including INCO.
Following retirement, Alex and Bea moved back to Wiarton. He pursued woodworking, creating beautiful intarsia and woodturning pieces. He embraced small-town life, loved walking to town, and was determined to rid his lawn of every dandelion. He volunteered actively at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 553 Gould Street, Wiarton on Wednesday, July 23rd at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Bayview Cemetery.
