Mac passed away peacefully in his sleep at Chartwell Georgian Retirement Community, Dundas, Ontario on May 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband to the late Mildred Jane Doreen and the late Pearle Eileen. Loving father of Dale (Eleanor, predeceased), Paul (Patricia Munt), Laura (Tyler) Fraleigh, and Russell (Andrea) Douglas. Proud grandfather of Bryan (Teresa), Kevan (Desiree), Sean, Cameron (Brenda), Jamie, Carly (Jesse), Tyson (Gabrielle), Greg (Joanne), Nicole (Brian). Cherished great-grandfather of Lincoln, Nora, Catherine, Lauren, Leif, Gabe, Vincent, Marlee, Shelby, Conor, and Sophie.
Born in Marie Joseph, Nova Scotia, Mac moved to Camp Borden during WWII where he trained in the Armoured Division of the Canadian Army. He later attended college in Nova Scotia and worked for Coca-Cola before settling in Ontario and working with Stelco Steel Company. Mac’s life was marked by dedication to family, hard work, and quiet strength.
A special thank you to Chartwell Georgian Retirement Community for their excellent care and to Lawna Eslary, a dear friend to Mac. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Grace Anglican Church, 157 Mill St N, Waterdown, followed by interment at the Grace Anglican Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 pm at the Holiday Inn, 3063 South Service Rd, Burlington.
