It is with an immeasurable and insurmountable amount of grief and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved MammaBear/GrammaBear, Joan Tricia Janisse (née Carruthers),
who was surrounded by her loving family at just 69 years young.
She is survived by her husband and best friend Richard, her children Rachel, Mandy, Adam (Jessie), and Erica (Mike); her grandchildren and the lights of her life — Olivia, Isabella, and Sofia.
Also survived by her brother George (Beverly), sister Linda (Howard), and sisters-in-law Jean, Carol, and Eleanor.
Joan will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, and many people she considered chosen family — including her extended family at LK Metal Products,
where she worked for over 34 years alongside her great friend and mentor, Silver.
Predeceased by her parents Patricia Mae Carruthers (née Burton) and George Earl Carruthers, and her brother Gary Carruthers — all of whom have welcomed her with open arms.
Joan was always known for putting everyone and everything before herself, as long as it put a smile on someone’s face.
Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a loving role-model, strong matriarch, comforting shoulder, the best travel partner,
a legendary Christmas decorator, and the best friend anyone could ask for.
A private family ceremony will be held in her honour. If you so wish, donations may be made to Erie Shores Hospice or to a trust fund for her grandchildren.
