Hrair Yeremia Darakdjian

August 8, 1941 – August 26, 2026

hrair darakdjian

He, fondly known as “Happy Harry,” peacefully departed this world on August 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 8, 1941, in Beirut, Lebanon, Hrair was the cherished son of the late Yeremia and Nouritza Darakdjian. He is now reunited with his beloved siblings Asadour (Angel), Mislehem (Bedros), Marie, and Shoushan (Krikor).

In 1965, Hrair married the love of his life, Annie (née Engeian), embarking on a beautiful journey of 61 years filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Together, they built a life rich in family and warmth, first in Lebanon and later in Canada, where they settled in 1973. Hrair was a dedicated shoemaker in his early years, a craft he honed with pride before embarking on a new chapter in Canada. He worked diligently in the automotive industry, first with Chrysler and then with General Motors, from which he retired two decades ago.

Hrair Yeremia Darakdjian was a man of simple joys and profound love. He adored watching western movies, a pastime that brought him back to the days of classic heroes and timeless tales. A true family man, he relished every moment spent with his loved ones, whether hosting joyous holiday gatherings or sharing a meal. Known for his easy-going nature and infectious humor, Hrair had a unique ability to make those around him smile and feel at ease. Hrair was a member of the A.R.F in Lebanon, when he moved to Canada he carried on that tradition and became a member of the Roupen A.R.F in Windsor.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his devoted wife Annie, his children Lena (Vartan), Ara (Debbie), and Christopher (Sandy). His grandchildren, Tamar (Sean), Maral (Marius), Joshua, Alyssa, Andrew, Nathan, and Allyson, along with his great-grandson Gabriel, will forever treasure the memories of their kind and funny grandfather. Hrair also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heron Terrace in Birdsview for the compassionate care they provided Hrair in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hrair’s memory to the Armenian Relief Society (ARS).
