He was born in Laniel, Quebec on September 2, 1953 and passed away peacefully at the age of 72 at Margaret’s Place in Dundas, Ontario on April 28, 2026.
Richard Charles Denis spent his youth in Burlington, Ontario before giving up football to follow his passion for music. He was a longtime employee of the 5th Wheel Truck Stop, owned several restaurants and retired from Compass Group Canada at Maplehurst Correctional Centre in 2022.
Loving partner to Lisa (nee Swailes) for 35 years and Number 1 cheerleader for children Madeleine and Michael, he will be missed by his favourite dice opponents brother Reg and sister-in-law Pat, mother and father-in-law Val and Doug Swailes, brother-in-law Mark (Nancy), nieces, nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Romeo and Almoza, brothers Claude (Bernadette) and Norm (Dorothy).
A celebration of life will be held at Hugh Foster Hall, 141 King Street in Milton Ontario on Wednesday, May 13 from 6-9 pm. Donations will be gratefully accepted in honour of the exceptional care Rick received from St. Joseph’s Hospital (https://stjoesfoundation.ca/donate/) and Margaret’s Place Hospice (https://sjvfoundation.akaraisin.com/ui/donations/donations/start?it=1&amt=50).
