Passed away on May 17, 2026, in Alliston, Ontario.
Doris Maureen Simpson was born on June 22, 1940, in Luton, England, to her parents, Francis McGee Moore and Doris Irene May Moore. She shared a special lifelong bond with her fraternal twin sister, Frances Moore. Raised in Dorchester, England, Maureen spent her early years there before marrying her husband, Hugh Simpson, on June 23, 1962.
Together, Maureen and Hugh built a life filled with love and adventure, living in several areas of southern England where they raised their four children Iain (Penny), Darren, Ewan (Melanie) and Sian (Kent) before immigrating to Montreal, Canada, in 1979. In her professional life, Maureen worked as a nurse and personal support worker.
After settling in Canada, Maureen and Hugh eventually made their home in Cedar Mills, Ontario, where they continued to raise their young family.
Maureen’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Joshua (Lindsay), Brianna (Jeremy), Hugh, Hailey, and Holly. Her love continued to grow as she became a great-grandmother to Wyatt James, Max Tyler, and Jayce Walker, and she eagerly looked forward to the arrival of her fourth great-grandson.
Maureen will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and deep love of her family. She had a distinctive laugh and a knowing smirk that brought warmth to those around her. Her presence, love, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
In our hearts, you will always stay, loved and remembered every day.
