Passed away at Fairhaven Home, Peterborough, on Sunday May 10, 2026.  Elmer Ernest Neil Garrett worked for Pinewood Aggregates for over thirty years, Drain Bros. Excavating and prior to that, operated his own dragline.  Elmer was well known for his sleigh rides at Dr. Gastle’s farm for many years and for his many hours of volunteering as a member of Young’s Point United Church.  Elmer’s pride and joy, however, was his family and he loved the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He is the beloved husband of Marie Garrett (nee Curry).  Loving father of Charlene Caza (Ross) and David Garrett (Susan).  Dear grandfather of Chrissy, Kathleen, Kirk, Kelly, Corey, Julie and Adam.  Great grandfather of Claire, Ella, Anna, Blake, Rylee, Charlee, Bailee, Brody, Cloe, Violet, Jax, Paisley, Cash, Isabella and Scarlett.  Survived by his sisters Evelyn MacNaughton, Mary Hall, Joyce King (John) and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Harry and Edna Garrett (nee Hockaday), brother Laverne Lane (Vivian) and brothers-in-law Braden MacNaughgton and Charlie Hall. The family would like to thank the Riverside Four staff for their compassion towards Dad. Friends and relatives are invited to call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Thursday May 14, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 1:00 PM followed by a reception in the Heritage Room of the Funeral Home.  A private family interment will take place at Lakefield Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Young’s Point United Church, Fairhaven Foundation or the P.R.H.C.
