It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Joanie on Sunday, December 29, 2024, in her 93rd year. Loving wife of the late Peter Bailey (1978) and the late Ronald Prest (2004). Cherished mother of Janet (Rod), Peter (Gwen), Michael, Joel (late Susan), William (Christina), Carrie, and Michelle (Rob). Devoted Gramma of Kimberly, James, Ashley, Melissa (Mike), Jennifer (Eric), Peter (Audrey), Thomas (Katie), Erin (Richard), Lisa (Jas), Mark (Katie), Kyle (Meghan), Nicole (Matt), and Kaitlyn (Mitch).
Adored Great-Gramma of Nicholas (Vanessa), Alexander, Carly, Alexandra (Shane), Dylan, Nathan, Maya, Willow, Sophie, Brooks, Reyes, Kaleigh, Ava, Benjamin, Harper, Blake, Zoe, Charlotte, Sydney, Madison, Caitlyn, Ashlynn, Shelbey, Dillon, and Riley. Great-Great-Gramma of James. Joan will be dearly missed by her sister Susan Fox and brother Gordon Dixon. She is predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Ivy (née Langley) Dixon, and her siblings Dorothy, Wesley, Ralph, Patricia, Marion, Mary, and Florence.
Visitation will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street, Burlington (905-632-3333), on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service in the Chapel on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
