Gary Carlson, 83, passed away in Orillia on August 17, 2026 at the Mariposa House Hospice after a very short battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his wife Mary Jane (2020), his older brother Carl and younger brother Bobby, he is survived by his son Todd Carlson (Davette), daughter Christine Murphy (Sean) and his grandchildren Rachel and Callum.
Originally from Cobourg, Ontario, he was posted to the Brechin detachment of the OPP in 1970. He and his family moved to Beaverton in 1975 and for a few years ran the Beaver Service Centre gas station and restaurant on Hwy 12. He retired from Ontario Hydro in 2004.
He enjoyed spending time socializing and ice fishing with his friends John and Bob and playing many rounds at Cedarhurst Golf Club with Don and others.
Gary appreciated all those that remained in contact with him after their move to Orillia in 2020 and also his new friends Randy, Bill and Brent of Orillia.

A private ceremony will be held at a later date in Cobourg.
