Michael Ambrose “Mick” Kelly passed away in Kelowna, British Columbia, on September 18, 2026, at the age of 85. Born in Moate, County Westmeath, Ireland, on October 23, 1940, he later lived in England before immigrating to Kelowna with his family in 1976.
Michael worked as a police officer in England and later served the City of Kelowna in bylaw enforcement for 23 years. Soccer remained central to his life: he played Gaelic football in Ireland, became a Class 1 referee in England, and helped develop and mentor soccer officials in the Okanagan. He is remembered for his Irish roots, strong convictions, humour, and devotion to family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Audrey; children John and Andrea and their spouses; grandchildren Jarred, Meghan, and Rachel; great-grandchildren Oliver and Violet; step-grandchildren Christie and Sam; his brother Joe; his sister Lucy; and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Springfield Funeral Home in Kelowna on October 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception afterward. A private family burial will follow the next day.
