George MelissaGEORGE, Melissa - (March 25, 1978 - June 16, 2021)

(B.A. Honours Anthropology/History, B.Ed., M.Sc. Primate Conservation)

After a long and courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer, Melissa passed away peacefully, at the age of 43.

A beautiful and loving wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and teacher, Melissa adored life and was loved by many.

She will be missed immensely by husband Adam, mother Rosemary, father David, sister Samantha and brother-in-law Robert.

She will be fondly remembered by her many wonderful aunts, uncles and extended family around the world.

She will also be missed deeply by the Gosse Family - mother-in-law Rosel, father-in-law Frazer, sister-in-law Laurie, brother-in-law Ian, niece Sarah, nephew Zachary and extended family.

Melissa was an incredible woman who loved travel, her family and education. Her biggest passion in life was her students and the unforgettable impact they had on her life. Melissa's selflessness and desire to put others around her first was only matched by her compassion for the Animal Kingdom.

Melissa's resume includes several degrees and diplomas specializing in the study and care of animals. Her heart was the fullest during her countless visits and charitable endeavors with her favorite Zoos, Sanctuaries, Farms and Animal Parks around the world.

Melissa's life was especially enriched with so many caring and loving friends. From her beloved, lifelong friends the "Whitby Chicks" to her Wilfred Laurier University pals and everyone else along the way. They will all miss her dearly.

Finally, "Ms. George" will be remembered forever by all of her amazing friends and colleagues at PVNCCDSB and OECTA.

Cremation will take place, with a private goodbye to be attended by immediate family.

Melissa will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby. Service to be held at Holy Family Parish in Whitby, by invitation only.

Special thanks to the Oncology Team at Princess Margaret Hospital Toronto and the Triage, Oncology and Supportive Care Staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their exceptional skill and dedication.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada and The Jane Goodall Institute of Canada.

Condolences may be expressed online at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL
