James Alan Ashwell

December 14, 1967 – November 3, 2024

James Alan Ashwell passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, after a courageous 12-year battle with multiple myeloma. James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness, warmth, and unwavering support.

James is survived by his loving wife, Tracey Shaw; his daughter, Joanna Lazar, and her husband, Jaime Lazar; and his cherished grandsons, James and Arthur Keeley, who were the light of his life. He is also remembered fondly by Sandra (Jean), Karen (the late Gary), Heather (Stewart), Michael (Jeanne), Kathy, and Jody, along with a wide circle of family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.

A man of great character, James devoted his life to his family and worked tirelessly to provide a future for his grandsons. His love, generosity, and resilience will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, and his memory will forever be cherished. In honor of his legacy, his family will continue the traditions he held dear, celebrating his life and the countless moments he shared with those he loved.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres, located at 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’s memory to Princess Margaret Hospital or Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
