Joanne Kay Georgina Stante

1953 - 2024

Joanne Stante (née Sparling) passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on November 27, 2024. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Joanne had a variety of careers but spent most of her working life as a medical office assistant. She had a lifelong love of God, enjoyed attending weekly church services, and was always keen to help others in any way she could.

Joanne treasured her family and friends and was at her happiest baking during the Christmas season. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, selfless character, smile, laugh, and her famous butterhorns. Joanne’s battle with dementia never diminished her ability to recognize her loved ones and tell them how much they meant to her.

Joanne was the beloved mother of Joe, Marina (Jesus), and Anita (Rob), and stepmother of Mike (Marianne). Cherished grandmother of Brianna (Ryan), Izabella (Aidan), and Miguel. Dear sister of Bonnie, Lloyd (Stacey), and Brenda (Harry). She was a loving aunt, great-aunt, and dear friend to many.

Visitations will be held at the Welland Funeral Home, 827 East Main St., on Friday, December 6th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Grace Gospel Church, 5855 Valley Way in Niagara Falls, on Saturday, December 7th at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Joanne’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Niagara Region.
