CAPRIO, Marilyn Frangos Caprio

passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC. She was born to Milton and Anna Frangos where her love for tennis started at a young age on the beaches of New York City, later evolving to table tennis and pickleball. She completed her teaching degree before moving to California where she started her teaching career and taught overseas.

She met Joseph Michael Caprio in the fall of 1950 on Catalina Island and married the love of her life on July 6, 1951, in Pasadena, California. Marilyn and their three daughters accompanied Joseph on his assignment with the World Meteorological Organization for a round the world adventure. They packed their clothes, each with their own suitcase, and hopped aboard the Queen Elizabeth to Europe to get briefed at the United Nations.

Marilyn returned to university and received a Bachelors Degree in Sociology in 1972. She was a member of the Association of Family Conciliation Court dedicated to professional court-related family counseling and public education. She wrote articles for the local newspaper. She served as chairman of Voters’ Service for the League of Women Voters and worked as the office manager of a health clinic. She was recognized for outstanding volunteer service to the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana.

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband of 60 years and survived by her twin sister, Athena Sawyer. She will be greatly missed by her daughters Anne Marlene Caprio, Jean Arlene Triscott (James Triscott) and May Darlene Caprio (Paul Taylor); grandchildren Charlene Gardner (Colin Gardner), Sean Whistler, Carolyn Charest (Chris Charest), Joanna Triscott (Thomas Fritz), Elizabeth Triscott, Stephanie Prevette (Jeremy Lennox), Tyler Prevette (Nerea Aspiazu Barrutia); and great grandchildren Ruby, Sisko, Charlotte and Theo.
