Passed away peacefully on Friday June 6, 2025, at Oak Ridges Hospice at the age of 94 years. Wife of the late Rob Forbes. Loved and remembered by her son Jim (Beverley), brother Bing, son-in-law Stephen and daughter-in-law Robbin; grandchildren Ruby (Steph), Tyson (Jillian), Buck, Jake, Jarret, Owen and Evan and great grandchildren Olivia and Addison, Predeceased by her daughter Nancy and son Billy.
Rob and Joy had three children, William (Billy), Jamie and Nancy. Her children were her pride and joy, and she was also a doting grandmother who always made time for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joy was loved deeply by all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends; some friendships having spanned a lifetime.
Joy was a dedicated bridge player, and with a group of women originally formulated in the Toronto area, continued to play bridge regularly for over 60 years. The bridge team was even given recognition for their longevity in a feature article in the Toronto Star.
A passionate birder, painter, gardener, golfer and writer, were a few of her many talents. An ever optimist, Joy could always be counted on to see the good in things, even when faced with unwavering diversity throughout her life. She truly had a heart of gold that she presented with until the very end.
The family would like to thank her many friends for their unconditional support and assistance, as it was Joy’s wish to stay in her home as long as she was able to do so.
We love you to the moon and back.
