He passed away suddenly at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario on December 6, 2025, in his 85th year. Â Born in Windsor Ontario to his late parents Robert Gardner of Scotland and mother Dorothy Lillian Horton of Windsor, Ontario. Cherished husband of Norma Gardner (Seal), who together shared 66 years of marriage. He will be dearly missed by children Chrissy Rusaw (Ron), Coreen Gostlin (Barry Wells) & Douglas Gardner (Christine). Great grandfather of Sawyer, Skylar, Ryder, Evangeline, Gavin, Athena, Kida, Lila & Danahe. Predeceased by brother Thomas Gardner.
As a young man growing up in Windsor Ontario, Bob spent his time focused on weight training and bodybuilding. While only weighing 167lbs at the time he achieved a 370lb bench press in competition, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Bob took that same hard work ethic and applied it to learning the trade of Goldsmithing. In 1964 he started his own business, Gardner Jewellers, in Peterborough Ontario. The shop grew to be a very well-respected Goldsmith shop providing wholesale jewellry repairs and diamond setting for more than 52 retail stores across Canada. He trained many other Goldsmiths and worked alongside his brother Tom, son Doug, daughter Coreen and nephew Tommy. Retiring at age 49 he immersed himself into gardening, raising ornamental pheasants, tropical fish and travelling with his wife and best friend Norma.
Bob will be dearly missed.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
Donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
