HAMILTON, Jim Hamilton
February 27, 1932 - June 16, 2026
At the ripe old age of 94 ¼ years, Jim decided that he had had enough. He said goodbye to his daughter, Leslie, closed his eyes and went to sleep. He died under the care of the wonderfully attentive staff of Lanark Lifestyles.
Jim Hamilton is predeceased by the women in his life; Beverly, Doreen and Eleanor, as well as his brother, Joe, and son-in-law, Terry Robertson.
He was the caring, beloved father of Leslie Del Grande (Robert) Brenda Robertson, and Bruce Rice (Marilyn). Jim was a proud grandfather to Rowan and Lara Del Grande, Randy and Alisha Robertson, Jason (Nena) and Melanie Rice, and the beloved great-grandfather to Paisley, Ethan and Andie.
Jim was born and grew up in downtown Hamilton. Barely stepping into high school, Jim had to leave work to then support his family. He eventually retired and spent his time between golf courses of Mount Hope, Wasaga Beach, Florida, Arizona and Brownsville, Texas. He loved being a member of the Canadian Snowbird Association. His other hobbies included birding, fishing, painting, photography and baking bread.
In 2022, Jim moved to Perth into the Meadows Apartment, and found a whole new set of friends, many of whom he met on his frequent 5-10KM walks through the neighbourhood and nearby Elmwood Cemetery (he often joked to people that he didn’t see his name on any tombstones, so he might as well head home!). Jim also enjoyed the occasional dance when Happy Hour included musical entertainment. He loved to visit with his family’s dog, Sahara, and any of the neighbourhood dogs, especially Bennie, Rolex and Zorro.
In celebration of Jim’s life, all are welcomed to join Jim’s family and friends in a gathering at The Meadows Apartment Common Room on Sunday June 28, 2026, from 2:00-5:00PM.
