It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Neil Kennedy on April 13th, 2025 – just 8 days shy of his 79th birthday. Neil was the best Dad and Grandpa. He was happiest when hanging out with family and laughing with his granddaughters. Neil was known for his sharp wit and sense of humour. He loved getting the final jeopardy question right and commenting on politics on Twitter. Neil often brought a smile to those around him, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Neil is survived by his best bud and cat Larry, his children Jennifer (Andrew), Michael (Fabiana) and his two granddaughters, Maria Victoria and Riley Rose, who were truly his greatest joy. Neil was the son of the late D’Arcy and Eileen Kennedy, brother to Denis Kennedy (Lin), the late Patty Bethune (Ray), and the late Mary-Ellen Byczynski (Walter). Neil will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Jennifer and Michael extend heartfelt appreciation to their mom, Juliet, for her love and support. Neil received a liver transplant in October 2006, granting over 18 bonus years with his loved ones. The family is deeply grateful to the donor and their family. Neil’s resilience and determination allowed him to be present for countless family milestones and to love his granddaughters dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on May 24th at Harpers Landing Restaurant in Oakville from 3pm to 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Neil’s memory by registering as an organ donor, donating blood, or supporting the Oakville Hospital Foundation (cardiology unit), the UHN Foundation (transplant research), or your favorite charity in Neil’s name.
