wonderful soul; one whose smiles and giggles filled every space she entered. She passed away peacefully August 24, 2025, at Cloverpoint Care Home in Victoria, BC. Valerie lived the last 17 years of her life in Victoria with her sister, brother-in-law and family; she spent the last six of those years at Cloverpoint Care Home where she received the highest level of care. Not only did she receive the best care, but she was also surrounded by staff that truly loved her and made her smile at every opportunity. Thank you to all the staff at Cloverpoint Care Home for your support, it was greatly appreciated by all of Valerie’s family.

Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, October 2, 1963, to Paul and Lillian Keyowski. Valerie lived on a farm in Canora, Saskatchewan, with her mom, dad and eight siblings. She had a loving, happy upbringing with her family and remained close to her family throughout her life. Valerie went to school in Canora, Sask., until she her parents moved to Brooks, AB, for a brief time before moving to Calgary. Valerie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Calgary, AB.

Valerie and her parents moved back to Sask., where she worked in a workshop, doing a multitude of different things. She worked in the kitchen making perogies, cabbage rolls, sandwiches, etc. She folded towels for Melville Hospital, and she worked at a second-hand store; she absolutely loved it! Valerie was great at bowling. She won many trophies and medals with Special Olympics, bringing home a gold in bowling one year! She went on to do more Special Olympics in Victoria, BC; where she did bowling, golfing, bocce, track and field, snow shoeing, and gym class. Valerie attended the ROADS program in Victoria which was fun and fulfilling. Valerie had a full and loving life. She was known best for her smiles, giggles and hugs! She gave the best hugs!

She had many friends from all aspects of her life. To meet Valerie, was to love Valerie! She had a special friend in Sask., Roxanne and a special friend in BC., Kelly. She enjoyed all the residents in her sister and brother-in-law’s home, Keith, Neal, Bill, Maggie, Jennifer and Tom.

Valerie was predeceased by her father Paul Keyowski. She is survived by her mother Lillian Keyowski, and siblings: Julie and (Merv) Kryanick, Stella and (Harvey) Malanowich, Donna and (Albert) Raiwet, Linda and (Alfonse) Trach, Don Keyowski, Stan and (Kim) Keyowski, Iona and (Glenn) Sadlemyer, Lionel and (Arlene) Keyowski. She is also survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews, as well as forty-four great nieces and great nephews.

All are welcome as we celebrate Valerie’s Life in the Sequoia Center at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Dr, Victoria, BC on Friday, October 24th between 2 pm and 4 pm.
