Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Ron Lawrence (2012) whom she married in 1974. Predeceased by her parents Aladino and Francesca Bucci; by her brother Ivan and his wife Beverley Bucci; and by her nephew Christopher Bucci. She will be missed by her nephew Jeffrey Bucci; her stepdaughters Barbara Almas (Dan); Katherine Lawrence (Randy Burton) of Saskatoon; granddaughters Anna Burton of Victoria; Rachel Burton (Stephen Standish) of Saskatoon; extended family, dear friends, and caregivers Jennifer, Maja, Victor, Maryse, and Oakley.
Sara was born in Gagliano Aterno, Italy and raised in the Barton and Sherman neighbourhood of Hamilton where she attended St. Anne Elementary School and Cathedral High School. She continued her education at the University of Toronto, leading to a career in the pharmaceutical industry as a pharmacist both in the community and in the hospital. Sara shared her many gifts with all those who loved and respected her. She was intelligent, possessed an enviable memory, read widely, and was active in both Grace Anglican Church and St. Thomas The Apostle Parish. She was strong, opinionated, and enjoyed good conversation. Ron was the love of Sara’s life. Together they built Major Medical Supplies into one of Hamilton’s foremost businesses. Early retirement saw them embrace the snowbirds’ life – golfing and entertaining at Cedar Springs in summer, then packing up for more of the same at their winter home in Naples, Florida.
Cremation has taken place. A private Interment Service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
