The family of Myrtle Lazzara is saddened to announce her passing on Saturday, May 24, 2025, just sixteen days after her 95th birthday. She is now reunited with all her friends and loved ones who have gone before her: her husband Joe Lazzara, her parents Ab (Albert) and Winnie (Winnifred) Waumsley, her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Wilma Waumsley, and her cherished best friends Verna, Charlotte, Jackie, Betty, and many others.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sandy Greer, and her son, Frank Lazzara; grandchildren Kathy Greer, Sharon & Rheal Gobeil, Noeleen & Trevor Wilcox, Jesse & Sarah Larose, Brandon; great-grandchildren Brody, Nicholas, Bryanna, Rylan, Payton, Avery, Eliya, Gabriel, Jaxton, and Aiva; and great-great-grandchildren Abby, Mya, Scarlett, and Carol Ann.

Myrtle’s main concern in life was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and compassion. She will be remembered for her laughter and her kindness to all she met. Myrtle served as President of the Hi Lites Seniors Club at St. Michael’s Church for many years and was a longtime member of the Thursday afternoon Sherwood Lanes bowling club.

In lieu of flowers, donations to War Amps, Covenant House, or Neighbour 2 Neighbour would be greatly appreciated, as these were causes dear to her heart.

A celebration of life for Myrtle will take place on June 22nd at St. Michael’s Anglican Parish Hall, 1188 Fennell Ave. East, Hamilton, ON L8T 1S6. The service begins at 2:00 p.m. with visitation to follow.
