Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Bluewater Health, Barbara Sally Légère passed away at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Gildard (Gil) Légère, and cherished sister to Monica Pursel (Robert) and sister-in-law to Albertine Légère, Raymonde Cormier, Nancy Légère, Jeannine Légère, and Laurette Légère. Predeceased by her parents Mary DesJardine (McEachen) and Eldred. Loved and treasured Aunt to Darren Pursel (Tanya), Dwayne Pursel (Lori), Carole Légère-Bailey (Brian), Linda Légère-Tetzlaff (Reynold), and Lisa Légère-Ingles (Robert). Barb, having no children of her own, treated the many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as if they were her own. Always excited to receive visitors and quick to make them something to eat or drink, Barb was happiest when the house was full of laugher and music coming from the people she loved. A devote Catholic. Who enjoyed attending mass every Sunday for as long as she could, she was a kind soul, almost always having a smile on her face. She was a key figure in running her husband, Gil’s, home building business, ensuring that everything was organized and everyone was taken care of. She really looked at everyone involved in the business as part of the family, which was great since many often stayed after work for dinner and to hear her husband Gil play guitar and sing. During her last few years, Barb came to depend on the help of several people and community services. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Lee, who stayed with her during the difficult times, and whom Barb came to think of as a close friend. Also, to Paul, who was her close neighbour and friend always willing to help get Barb where she needed to be. Thank you both. Cremation has taken place and a graveside ceremony will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Michigan Avenue, Sarnia, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
