Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, The Village Retirement Residence, Hanover. He leaves behind his children Corina Lynn, William Steve, Gail Rosemary, Timothy Joseph, along with his cherished grandsons, Jonas Luke Schuett (Jackie) and Shane Patrick McCurdy (Rita). Bill will be remembered by his sisters Ruth Grein-Boxburger, Gertrude Valad, and sister-in-law Elaine Lehman.
Born and raised in Walkerton, Bill spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was the oldest son of twelve children.
He built a long and successful career with Ontario Hydro. He earned his degree from Ryerson University as an electrician and later served as Chief Electrical Inspector.
Bill will also be remembered for his lifelong passion for lawn bowling, a game he enjoyed for over 55 years. On the greens, he and his bowling partner and best friend Duffy O’Brecht were a force to be reckoned with.
Predeceased by his wife Eleanor, daughter Theresa, sons-in-law Raymond Schuett and Patrick McCurdy, and siblings George, Harry, Allan, Margaret, Betty, Rose, Eleanor, Christine, and Madeline.
The family invites you to join in a Celebration of Life from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Cameron’s in Walkerton.
