It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen (Steve) Carl Maguire, who passed away surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Steve was predeceased by his loving parents, Carl and Florence, as well as his older sister Joyce and brother James (Jim).

Steve was a devoted husband, father, and “Grampy,” married for 50 beautiful years to his beloved wife Doreen (née Porteous). He leaves behind his cherished children Jessica (Jeremy West), Jeremy, and Jared (Michelle), and his adored grandchildren Bethany, Abigail, and Daxton.
His faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses remained a strong and guiding force throughout his life.

Steve enjoyed a fulfilling career as a transportation supervisor at Canada Post, working there until his retirement. He was known for his love of home renovation projects, classic cars, good music, and relaxing on the back deck. Steve’s warmth, love of animals, people, and good conversation brought joy to everyone who knew him.

Visitation will take place at Low & Low Funeral Home, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry, on Friday, May 9th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service to honour Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1950 Wilson Rd N, Oshawa. All are welcome to attend.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fairview Lodge for their exceptional care and compassion, and to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham for their invaluable support. Steve’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed.
