MARTIN, Elizabeth Helen Martin
June 2, 1944 - January 31, 2025
Passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, in Victoria, BC, at the age of 80. Born on June 2, 1944, in Scotland, Elizabeth carried with her a warmth, wit, and love of music that enriched the lives of everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving children Heather (Alex) MacLennan, Allison Martin, and Richard Martin, and her adored grandchildren Duncan, Findlay, and Gabriel.
Music was central to Elizabeth’s life. She played the cello for many years, participating in quartets in Victoria and Grand Forks. She also loved to sing, and her smile could brighten a room. Her taste in music was broad — she delighted in ABBA, Elton John, and the great works of classical composers.
Elizabeth had a playful spirit, often quoting humorous lines that those who knew her will remember with a smile:
“I could take the top off an egg.”
“You canny throw your granny from the bus.”
Her kindness, musical heart, and sense of fun will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date to spread her ashes.
