The Moffatt and McDonald family are saddened to announce the passing of John Charles McDonald, who passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2025 in Ajax, Ontario.
John is survived by his siblings Janet Moffatt (Murray) and Jeffrey, and his nephews Michael (Lori), Robbie (Michelle), Marty, and nieces Christine, Jessica (Kevin). He will also be fondly remembered by his great-nieces and nephews: Ryan (Amy), Lindsey (Kyle), Brittney-Jo (Blake), RJ, Jessica (Kerri), Parker, Madi, and Spencer.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles (1957) and Dorothy (1964), brother Joey (2000), sister Jane (2020), brother-in-law Bob (2011), and nephews Colin (1999) and Andrew (2013).
John will be greatly missed by his extended family and many dear friends. Known for his gentle demeanor, dry wit, and kind heart, John was the kind of person who remembered birthdays, asked thoughtful questions, and brought quiet comfort wherever he went. His interests included history, classic films, and spending time with loved ones. He especially cherished family gatherings and was known to retell treasured family stories with a warm smile and sharp memory.
A private family interment will be held for John at a later date.
Donations to St. Paul’s on the Hill Community Food Bank in John’s memory will be appreciated by the family.
