Passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the age of 86, having just celebrated her birthday. Beloved wife of the late Frank Murphy.
Lovingly remembered by her children Peter Werheid (Tammy), Peter Murphy (Margaret), and Caroline Werheid (Jim). Cherished Omi of Michael, Kyley, Leeann, Carlene, and Rowan, and Great Omi of Orien, Nolan, and Madeline. Also survived by her siblings Hilda Volbach (Vivian), Rosemarie (late Heinz), and Johannas Volbach (Karin), and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Hanni Dahl (Herbert).
Growing up in post-war Germany with her close family, Anneliese decided to emigrate to Canada in 1958 to follow her life’s ambition. Landing in Gander, Newfoundland in her high heels and with a strong disposition, she began her life as a Canadian. Family life soon followed with Konrad, and later Peter and Caroline. Anne always enjoyed family time, which was enhanced by her wonderful home cooking and strong cocktails.
A strong work ethic led her to Imperial Oil, where she rose to become Senior Supervisor of Credit and enjoyed a very successful career. Along the way, she met Frank, and together they spent the rest of Frank’s life sharing many trips, events, and, of course, family parties.
Anneliese was a strong-willed and pragmatic woman, ahead of her time—a force to respect and admire. Her determination, love for family, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to express their utmost thanks to the staff at Douglas Crossing for their dedicated care during Anne’s final years and to the team at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital who made her last days peaceful and dignified.
Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge Chapel. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Breast Cancer Canada would be appreciated by the family.
