James Edward Preston September 2 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Preston, at the age of 67, on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, at the Georgetown Hospital. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of 34 years to Christine (nee Di Persio). Loving and proud father of Derek, Michael (Brianne), and Matthew. Son of the late James and Mae Preston. Younger brother to Barbara (Kevin) Powell, Debbie Renaud, and Sandy (Greg) Munday. Loved Son-In-Law to Vince (deceased) and Karen Di Persio. Brother-in-law to Angela (Tom) Voduris, Steven (Melissa) Di Persio, Jason (Lana) Di Persio. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jim worked at Caledon Laboratories in Georgetown for 40 years where he met his wife Christine and acquired many life-long friendships.

Whether it was at the hockey rink or the soccer field, Jim could always be seen cheering on his sons or coaching one of their teams which he loved to do.

Jim fought a long and tough cancer battle always with a positive attitude, sense of humour, and never a complaint for what he endured. A beautiful soul gone too soon.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to either Cancer Assistance Service of Halton Hills (CAShh) or the Georgetown Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
