Donna Sherwood passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by love, care, and the comfort of her home after a period of health challenges. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, nana, cousin, and friend, facing life’s trials with resilience and deep love for those closest to her.
Donna shared her home with her beloved sister Janice, whose presence was a constant source of strength. She was the proud mother of Jennifer (Dwight) and Mark (Jane), and a loving Nana to Taylor (Cam), Meagan (Luke), Christopher, and Samantha. Her happiest moments were spent driving her granddaughters to school, events, or “dancing” class.
While she worked only occasionally outside the home, her life was dedicated to her family, volunteer work, and caregiving for loved ones. She was active in schools, service clubs, and The Salvation Army, and maintained close bonds with extended family and lifelong friends.
Donna will be remembered for her sense of humor, selflessness, love of family gatherings, her famous “party sandwiches,” and her endearing habit of being fashionably late.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the General John Hayter Southshore Community Centre, 205 Lakeshore Drive, Barrie, Ontario. Donations in her memory to The Salvation Army are appreciated.
